Choice is Good. PerioPal now offers a one-time, unlimited licensing option to an unlimited number of computers.
Beaumont, Texas, September 8, 2009 – PerioPal LLC., a leading software solution for periodontal exams unveiled today its new one server, unlimited licensing model. Now, a One-Time Unlimited Licensing option offers similar download and software features as the Pay-Per-Use policy to an unlimited number of workstations. Pay-Per-Use clients can convert to Unlimited Licensing at any time.

“We believe choice is good. Although our Pay-Per-Use model has gained momentum over the last three years, a significant number of practice owners prefer a one time purchase,” says Kimberly Goodson, president of PerioPal.

“In order to increase our market share and maintain our dedication to the needs of the practice owner, we measured and evaluated our pricing plan as well as the fixed costs for software ownership. By offering different licensing models on a single server, users can select the best solution for their practice without having to worry about purchasing and keeping track of multiple software licenses.”

In 2006, PerioPal realized the importance of information technology solutions to increase the efficiency and lower the cost of its software distribution. A decision to offer a free-to-download version came last year allowing clinicians to get acquainted with the benefits of PerioPal’s voice driven periodontal charting software. Complete with 25 exams, comprehensive training materials, and a link to PerioPal-compatible headsets, users have everything they need to test and evaluate PerioPal’s voice driven periodontal charting software.

The system uses a very powerful, voice command technology that shortens the enrollment time of data, increases the accuracy of the exam and decreases the tedious task of periodontal charting. Uses can record all clinical conditions as they are observed.

PerioPal is designed to be easily interfaced to most popular dental systems that share an open bridge policy or by using a customized integration tool called DataGrabber from Apteryx, Inc. DataGrabber allows the automated transfer of patient name, birth date, and record ID number to PerioPal. This interface tool eliminates the need to modify the user’s dental office system software and still have a fully integrated solution.

Version 8.5 is available for purchase and more information on the software can be found at www.periopal.com

… I researched available voice command periodontal training programs and selected PerioPal. This has proven to be one of their best decisions I have made in my practice. Here are the reasons that PerioPal has worked so well in my cutting edge digital dental office:

1. PerioPal is easy to learn and use. Both of my hygienists were not computer literate, and yet, they learned the program and were capable of utilizing it consistently and accurately in an hour.

2. The relationship between the hygienist and patient is maintained without interruption and intrusion of a third party to do data input.

3. PerioPal provided a flawless bridge to my computer network. All of this bridging was done efficiently, and timely fashion, and with no additional cost to me.

4. Periodontal education occurs with every charting experience the patient has. He/she listens to the input of the charting as the hygienist does the evaluation undisturbed by outside influences. Additionally, a comparative charting record and written periodontal evaluation is printed out and evaluated in a co-diagnosis mode before being given to the patient at the end of the appointment. I believe this is improving the treatment compliance by my periodontal patients which is a huge benefit for the patient and my staff.

5. The reports that are generated are simple, yet comprehensive, and are evidence-based which allows me to evaluate each patient’s progress when I do my chair side evaluation. The comparative probing chart allows me to evaluate our treatment and the patient’s home care in a single, accurate chronological format.

6. PerioPal has increased the accuracy of the exams done, as it eliminates data input error by a third party. Each tooth is evaluated completely during the exam, rather than the previous method of doing pockets, then furcations, then bleeding.

7. PerioPal is a time saver, which is extremely important in my busy practice. Our hygienists do a complete periodontal exam in approximately 5 minutes instead of the previous 15 to 20 minutes the charting with a third party required.

8. The digital records allow easy image copying in the Fast Attach software provided by NEA that we utilize when sending the required narratives to various insurance companies for reimbursement. The AAP Classification System is clearly printed on each report.

9. PerioPal allows easy credit card payment for periodontal exams online 24/7. The exams are very reasonably priced especially when purchased in bulk.

10. PerioPal has a very good support system and training program available. When I have called for assistance, I am immediately answered or Ms. Goodson responds within 15 minutes of my call. She has provided us with unlimited support by phone as well as several excellent “cheat sheets” to aid my hygienists with the program.

My assistants are the first to notify me if there is any computer glitch affecting PerioPal because they are called to do third party charting as was done in the past. Suffice it to say, my entire team and myself are grateful for PerioPal in my practice at Lynnwood Smiles.

Sincerely,
